The story behind We Know Ball

Built by a coach who wanted pro-level analytics on a public-school budget.

We Know Ball was founded by Brad Wright, a former high school basketball coach who fell in love with the advanced analytics behind team performance. Brad never had a deep bag or elite athleticism to lean on. He found his success in the game the same way he now helps the coaches and players he works with find theirs: by learning basketball at a high level and understanding what actually moves the needle on the floor.

But getting to those insights was never easy. To track the numbers that mattered, Brad had to build his own spreadsheets and tools, or pay for subscriptions that simply weren't in the budget for a public school. And even the breakdown services his teams did pay for were often inaccurate.

So he built something better. With the help of Claude Code, Brad created WKB Stats, the live, possession-based analytics app he always wished he'd had, and made it free. AI has reached a point where teams can build their own tools instead of depending on a large corporation's support and pricing.

That's the whole idea behind We Know Ball: coaches shouldn't be locked out of the metrics that can help their team by a paywall. The app is, and will stay, free to use.

In Brad's Words

I found my edge by understanding the game, not by out-athleting anyone. That's exactly how I help the coaches and players I work with.

If you want help getting the most out of your team, I offer consulting for coaches and group training for players, built on the same team-first, data-driven approach: lineup breakdowns, film and stat review, practice plans, and skill sessions tailored to how your team actually plays.
